Brian Conley has learned to love his great big butt as Edna Turnblad in West End blockbuster Hairspray, especially after his bumper-sized bottom saved his neck.
The TV and stage showman, who will be in drag as Tracy Turnblad’s formidable mom in the swinging 60s musical when it is staged in Wolverhampton this summer, took a tumble down the stairs at the Shaftesbury Theatre but was saved from a nasty injury by the ample padding on his character’s super-sized derriere.
“I slipped over on some water on the way back to the dressing room and fell down the stairs but all I did was bounce,” said the popular London-born funnyman.
